WHAT TO EXPECT:

It does not matter if you are a complete beginner or have been taking piano classes for years. Either way, I will be glad to share with you my passion for music and piano playing! As a musician, I focus mainly on classical music but I am open to include, if desired, other genres as well.

I will do my best to tailor our lessons to your liking. We can follow a textbook and have a clear set of goals with scales and exercises, or we can take it in a more relaxed manner and learn your favourite songs with the right chords. Do you want to improve in music theory or prima vista? We can include that too! :)

One of my main goals is to create a friendly atmosphere in which you do not need to be afraid of making mistakes as they are a necessary part of learning process. So do not hesitate and contact me to arrange your first lesson! :)

IMPORTANT INFO:

- Every student should own either acoustic or electronic piano, ideally with a full range of 88 keys.
- Lessons are conducted at student’s location but online lessons are also possible.
- I mostly teach in Helsinki but, depending on the distance, I can also provide lessons in Espoo and Vantaa.

ABOUT ME:

My name is Jan and I come from the Czech republic. I currently live in Helsinki where I study for a master’s degree at Sibelius Academy. I have participated and won prizes at several international piano competitions and have been teaching piano to students (both privately and in music schools) for 7 years. Most of my students have been children aged 5-15 years, however, I have also experience of teaching adults. Piano pedagogy was a part of my bachelor’s degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and, nowadays, I am pursuing further pedagogical studies at Sibelius Academy.

Besides teaching and playing the piano, I also enjoy swimming, jogging, reading and trying to wrap my head around intricacies of Finnish language. :)
